Functions: Sport Tracker

Manager, coach, player or fan of a sports team? Then this function is for YOU! Set up leagues, seasons, conferences, divisions, teams, players and matches, and track their progress!

First, you need to use our super wizard to get you started. Go to Functions -> Sport Tracker -> Wizard.

Next you need to choose a sport that you want to create the Sport Tracker for. Note that there are two types of hockey choices available because of the difference in scoring rules of the American hockey and the European hockey (IIHF).

Enter a name for a new league, and click next.

Choose a logo for the league.

Enter a name for the season. Currently the type can only be "Season", but check it often, because it will be updated with Playoffs soon. Choose the start and the end of the season, and if you need, continue to conferences and divisions.

Since not all leagues use conferences and divisions, these are optional sections. Adding conferences and divisions, is easy. Just enter the name, and click "New conference".

Divisions work the same way as conferences. Click "Finish" when you are done!

The next step is to create teams. Select the sport you have created in the wizard from the Sport Tracker menu item, and then choose Team.

Here you can see our list of created teams, and at the bottom, there is "Add team". Click the button to add a new team.

Here you need to fill in the details of the team. You can upload a small logo (optimal res. 55*30) that will display in lists and widgets, and also a normal logo (optimal res. 80*80) that will display on the page of the team.

When you have finished uploading the teams, you can assign them to a season that they are participating in. First, you need to choose the league.

Then choose the season.

Here you can see all the teams that are in the season. Next to the teams you can choose the conference and the division, if applicable. When you are done, scroll down and click "Finish".


To start adding the matches, click Schedules from the chosen sport in the Sport Tracker.

 

Here you can see a list of created matches. Your list will of course be empty, so click "Add match" to start creating the schedule.

 Here just enter the details of the match, choose the teams, and you are done. Don't forget to update the score when a match has been completed!

If you would like to display information such as, standings, next matches and so on, on different parts of the site, and even embed them in external sites, then click Widgets.

To get the code for a widget, choose a league and a season and a type. For the schedule widget you must give how many matches you want displayed in on the widget at the parameters field. When done click "Save". The widget with your settings will appear in the list below. Click the + button grab the embed code for the given widget.

 

To display widget like boxes within your site, click the Display tab, and select where you want to display the boxes. In the popup layer enter the name of the season ID that you can see in the Functions -> Sport Tracker -> *Sport* -> Season table.

Last, but not least, if you want to add the season information to site's navigation menu, you can do so by going to the menu editor and choosing one of the three types of pages you can create, below:

 

 

Now you are done with setting up your sports site. Have fun using the function!
